Without even reading it, the FBI claims it has already fixed the problems

Downer, a long-time Aussie chum of Bill and Hillary Clinton, had been on Hakluyt’s advisory board since 2008. Officially, he had to resign his Hakluyt role in 2014, but his informal connections continued uninterrupted. Australian diplomat, Alexander Downer, was the one credited by the FBI for launching the investigation into George Papadopoulos: It was Downer who told the FBI of Papadopoulos’ comments, which became one of the “driving factors that led the FBI to open an investigation in July 2016 into Russia’s attempts to disrupt the election and whether any of President Trump’s associates conspired,” The Times reported.

cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/90322 > The Clinton Foundation was understandably suspected by FBI agents in three different field offices — Little Rock, Washington, and New York — as a dodgy vehicle enabling donors, very much including foreign regimes and their operatives, to give goo-gobs of money to Hillary and Bill Clinton without appearing to violate the campaign finance laws.

Buried in the detailed account is a little noticed footnote stating that Clinton General Counsel Marc Elias “declined to be voluntarily interviewed by the Office.” Likewise, Durham noted that “no one at Fusion GPS … would agree to voluntarily speak with the Office” while both the DNC and Clinton campaign invoked privileges to refuse to answer certain questions.

Durham Report: Foreign Government Planned to Donate Money to Hillary Campaign in Exchange for Protection when She Became President
cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/89994 > The FBI made no effort to investigate an illegal campaign contribution from a foreign national/foreign government that was made through their own Confidential Human Source.

The Democrats, tried to use the FBI to rig a presidential election and just about got away with it. They succeeded in getting the FBI to intervene. They succeeded in getting the FBI to lie to a court to get wiretaps. They succeeded in getting a presidential campaign Donald Trump’s campaign spied on.

All thing wrongdoing and nobody prosecuted. Will Clinton Foundation investigation be reopened?

"Neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation," "The FBI personnel also repeatedly disregarded important requirements when they continued to seek renewals of that FISA surveillance while acknowledging – then and in hindsight – that they did not genuinely believe there was probably cause to believe that the target was knowingly engaged in clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of foreign power." "The FBl's actions with respect to other highly significant intelligence it received from a trusted foreign source pointing to a Clinton campaign plan to vilify Trump by tying him to Vladimir Putin so as to divert attention from her own concerns relating to her use of a private email server," the report concluded. "Unlike the FBI's opening of a full investigation of unknown members of the Trump campaign based on raw, uncorroborated information, in this separate matter involving a purported Clinton campaign plan, the FBI never opened any type of inquiry, issued any taskings, employed any analytical personnel, or produced any analytical products in connection with the information.

Durham for the first time suggested Hillary Clinton's campaign, her researchers and others formed a "joint venture or conspiracy" for the purpose of weaving the collusion story to harm Trump's election chances and then the start of his presidency. "These parties acted as 'joint venturer[s]' and therefore should be 'considered as co-conspirator[s],'"

Today, the US media has the lowest credibility—26 percent—among forty-six nations, according to a 2022 study by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. In 2021, 83 percent of Americans saw “fake news” as a “problem,” and 56 percent—mostly Republicans and independents—agreed that the media were “truly the enemy of the American people,” according to Rasmussen Reports.

If you think Charles McGonagal's relationship with Oleg Deripaska was bad, wait til you hear about Christopher Steele eho was a far bigger player in the Trump-Russia probe than McGonagal.
While Steele was working for the FBI and for Democrats, he lobbied DOJ officials on behalf of Deripaska, who had visa issues at the time. He claimed that Deripaska was not the Kremlin puppet that U.S. officials believed. The DOJ's inspector general report has details:

McConnell knows this. It also protects Mitch McConnell from divulging what he knew about the coup on Trump and the spying on Devin Nunes, among other things. How the FBI Copied Parts of the Debunked Steele Dossier Directly Into Its Spy Requests
cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/69508 > A close examination of all four of the FISA warrants reveals that the FBI lifted dozens of key phrases from the dossier as well as practically some entire sentences – and pasted them verbatim into their sworn affidavits. It did so repeatedly without citing its sources or using typical hedging language such as “allegedly” or “purportedly” to indicate that the claims were unverified. > > As a result, the FBI lent its voice of authority to many of the unsourced – and now debunked – accusations in the dossier.

cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/69466 > If you’re going to go and surveil a member of the Gang of Eight, and his staff, meaning the person who gets the most sensitive intelligence, the AG has to notify Congress’s leadership, that’s Paul Ryan AND somebody at the White House. Here’s the thing with Paul Ryan. Here’s the guy who didn’t want us to send out subpoenas for Russiagate… Paul Ryan never told us he had a copy of the Steele dossier. > > Who was the person at the White House they notified??????

The FBI as an organization knew for sure in early 2017, likely earlier, that Trump was not a Russian spy. But the bureau allowed the process to drift on through the Mueller report and all the rest. Mueller established a “dossier validation” unit that found none of Christopher Steele’s reporting could be corroborated. Mueller also shut down attempts by FBI agents to investigate a Clinton crony with high-level connections to Putin, and failed to complete an espionage investigation into Steele’s Russian primary sub-source. Imagine how different Trump's term would have been had we all known with certainty what the FBI did. No Maddow, no walls closing in, no insinuations America's president was dealing cards to the Russians right out of the Oval Office. What was lost for the nation’s business we'll never know.

cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/54760 > The human validation unit of the FBI would later review Danchenko’s service as a CHS and made several recommendations, including that he be investigated for immigration fraud. Helson testified that neither he nor anyone with the Special Counsel’s office “ran that to ground.” > > Helson further testified that neither he nor his “colleagues who were looking at the dossier and trying to corroborate the information there,” “attempt[ed] to run to ground and complete or conclude” the case that had previously been opened on Danchenko and then wrongly closed in 2010 because the FBI had mistakenly believed Danchenko had permanently left the country. > > The human validation unit of the FBI also recommended “the Bureau behavioral assessment group conduct an examination to determine what Mr. Danchenko’s actual motives, allegiances and vulnerabilities,” but Helson testified he did not do that either.

cross-posted from: https://exploding-heads.com/post/53738 > The problem, Patel continued, "is that they were ingesting false information intentionally and then lying to federal courts and federal officers about that information and then working in reverse to cover up their arrogant government corruption and their lies by hiring Christopher Steele, Igor Danchenko, and, you know, utilizing the Democratic National Committee and Hillary campaign and the fake news media to buttress their lies."

Durham Investigation

In May 2019, Attorney General William Barr tapped Connecticut’s U.S. Attorney John Durham to look into issues related to the origins of the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation.

Durham is a longtime federal prosecutor in Connecticut known for leading organized crime and public corruption cases. In 2008, Attorney General Michael Mukasey tasked Durham with investigating the CIA’s destruction of interrogation videotapes. A year later, Attorney General Eric Holder expanded Durham’s mandate to examine CIA torture allegations.

In May 2019, Attorney General William Barr tapped Connecticut’s U.S. Attorney John Durham to look into issues related to the origins of the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation.

Now, Durham is conducting a comprehensive global probe of the U.S. government’s investigation of the Trump Campaign’s connections with Russia. The investigation covers pre- and post-election matters, and reportedly has come to include the unmasking of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and the basis for the intelligence community’s assessment that Russia tried to help Donald Trump win the election in 2016.
